Yean Sreymech has been at Rambutan since 2014. She started out waiting tables with the breakfast team and is now the assistant accountant.
Where are you from?
My family is from Dom Dek, just outside Siem Reap. That’s where they still live, but now I live by myself in Siem Reap. I moved here to study accounting at Build Bright University. I’m still studying, but I’ll finish my degree next year.
What is it like to work at Rambutan?
I used to work at another hotel as a waiter before moving to Rambutan. I like it here because I learn a lot of new things, and get to see how every department works. They also sponsored my education.
What are your hopes for the future?
I want to have a shop to sell clothes, like modern clothes for women and baby clothes. And I want to have a small house and a small family.
What should visitors to Siem Reap see and do?
Visitors should spend time learning more about Cambodian culture. Like how people live, day to day life—real life.
What are some good things to eat in Siem Reap?
My favorite thing to eat is grilled chicken from the Road 60 street stalls, and also fried vegetables.
